MRS. DOTTIE IDA (BAILEY) WHITFIELD 

Mrs. Dottie* Ida Whitfield, 61, wife of John Ezra Whitfield, died at a Norfolk 
hospital Wednesday morning at 4:40 o'clock. Besides her husband She is survived 
by two sons, George M. and C. Reese Whitfield, both of Norfolk; a daughter, 
Mrs. L. W. Collier of Portsmouth; two brothers, Judson Bailey of Suffolk and 
Robert Bailey of Ivor; two sisters, Mrs. L. R. Griffin of Garrisville and Mrs. 
J. D. McClenny of Franklin; and three grandchildren. 

Mrs. Whitfield was a native of Isle of Wight County and had been a resident 
of Norfolk for fifteen years She was a member of Epworth Methodist Church. 

Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon (Friday) at the Holloman-
Brown funeral Home in Norfolk, and burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

The 1900 Census (Hardy Dist, IoW.Co.) gives b. Jul 1878. 
   Family records gave b. 1883. 

Her husband (1866 - 1945) is buried with his first wife (d. 14 Sep 1904) 
   in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Their m.rec. (9 Aug 1905) gives him as J. Edward Whitfield.

Her parents, James Milton & "Mattie" Martha S. (BEALE) BAILEY, 
   are buried in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.
