DAVIS ANDREW WHITFIELD 

  HANDSOMES, VA., February 22 - Mr. D.A. Whitfield, a young and promising 
lawyer of Southampton County, died this morning of pneumonia, at the family 
homestead.  The event creates great regret.  He was deservedly popular, 
socially and professionally. 


Davis Andrew WHITFIELD, lawyer, 
b. 1864, Southampton Co., d. 22 Feb 1889, at home, Southampton Co., 
interred in the WHITFIELD family cemetery*, Mary Hunt Rd., near Newsoms, 
"Norfolk (VA) Virginian," Sat., Feb. 23, 1889, p. 1

His parents, Cordy & Lucy Jane (SAUNDERS) WHITFIELD, are also buried there.
