Whitfield, 87, formerly of Richmond and Courtland died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Douglas W. Davis, in Bethesda, Md. A son of John William and Louisa Joyner Whitfield, he was a native of Southampton County. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mamie W. Whitfield; three daughters, Mrs, Davis, Mrs. Landon N. Stoneman of Richmond and Mrs. William Jordan of Fort Myers, Fla.; a son, J. Cooper Whitfield of Richmond, and 10 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in St. Luke's Episcopal Church today at 2:30 p.m. with burial in Riverside Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** A funeral service for J.E. Whitfield was conducted at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Tuesday by the Rev. David H. Lewis Jr., rector of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Richmond. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbarers were Burton J. McLemore, Otis Joyner, George Tyner, Howard Hancock, John Rollison and Beamon Davis. ****************************************************************************** COURTLAND - J.E.
