All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARTHA SUE EDWARDS WHITFIELD Mrs. Mattie Sue Whitfield died at her home near Sunbeam Sunday night in her 56th year following an illness of several months which she had borne with great patience. Surviving her are her husband, Joe C. Whitfield; three sons, C.A., S.E. and R.L. Whitfield of Southampton County; two sisters, Mrs. C.R. Lundquist of Sunbeam, and Mrs. James Whitley of Como; three brothers, Paul Edwards of Newsoms, Frank Edwards of Franklin and J.W. Edwards of Como; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from her late residence Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin, assisted by Rev. L.E. Dailey of Newsoms. Interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery in Franklin and the active pallbearers were: J.T. Bryant, Harvey Stephenson, Lloyd Bryant, Edward Bunn, E.F. Drake, L.M. Miles, John Bryant and T.H. Barrett. Martha "Mattie" Sue (EDWARDS; Mrs. Joe C.)
