Whitfield and a resident of the Franklin community for many years, died Friday afternoon in a Norfolk hospital. She was the daughter of the late Ellis and Nancy Harcum of this community and a sister of the late W.T. Harcum. Surviving her are a number of nieces and nephews. Services were held at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon in the Holland Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, Miss Ethel Fenimore and Mrs. J.D. Owen sang "Abide with Me" and "Never Too Old," accompanied by Mrs. Mary C. Owen of Sedley. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, pallbearers being Otto, Jesse Q. and Elmo Harcum; Nurney Joyner, Roscoe Whitfield, J.W. Tidwell and N.J. Babb. Margaret (HARCUM; Mrs. James P.)
