All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ SAMUEL TILDEN WHITFIELD 1949 Obituary (dob 10/20/1876) Samuel Tilden Whitfield, 73, of 2409 Arctic Avenue, Virginia Beach, died Monday enroute to the Virginia Beach Hospital after suffering a heart attack at 4:20 p.m. He was a native of Courtland and had resided at Virginia Beach for five years. He was a member of the Courtland Methodist Church and was associated with the A.A.A. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Applewhite Whitfield, four daughters, Mrs. J.T. Dudley of Norfolk; Mrs. D.F. Martin, of Los Angeles, Mrs. F.N. Sands, of Baltimore, and Mrs. Roy Turner of Virginia Beach, one son, William Thomas Whitfield, Boron, Calif; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Johnson, of Ivor, and Mrs. Andrew Hancock, of Sedley, and one brother, Junius E. Whitfield, of Richmond. Funeral services will be conducted at the James V. Derry Funeral Chapel Saturday at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery, Sussex County.
