All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ GEORGE WATKINS GEORGE WATKINS DIES SUDDENLY OF HEART ATTACK George Watkins, 68, well-known Franklin businessman and churchman, died suddenly at his home early this morning of a heart attack. Sunday he felt unable to attend the Bruner Bible Class which he has taught for the past 20 years. Mr. Watkins was the son of the late Darden J. and Rebecca Moore Watkins of Franklin. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eugenia Jones Watkins, four nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church, a past president of the Franklin Lions’ Club, past secretary of the Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 151, a former member of American Legion Post No. 73 and a member of Southampton Barracks 1162, Veterans of World War I. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, and Rev. Donald Dunlap, associate pastor, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Poplar Spring Cemetery.
