WATSON Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Roma Lee Cross Watson, 30, whose death occurred in Norfolk sometime Wednesday night, March 19, were conducted in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. James B. Douglas, pastor of High Street Methodist Church. Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, and Rev. Donald J. Dunlap, assisted pastor. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being Richard Drewry, J.J. Finley, Jr., Thomas Hill, J.R. Howerton, Harvey L. Pope, Dr. E.F. Reese, 3rd, T. Arthur Vaughan and Billy B. Williams. Mrs. Watson, who had been a patient in Leigh Memorial Hospital, Norfolk, where she was under treatment for a "mental depression," according to Norfolk police, left the hospital unnoticed and presumably fell or jumped into the Hague, a branch of which is directly in front of the hospital. On Friday evening at 6 o’clock a passerby observed her body floating face down in the waters of the Hague about 300 feet west of the Botetourt bridge. A native of Gates, N.C., Mrs. Watson had resided in Franklin for the past 9˝ years. She is survived by her husband, Robert Emmett Watson, and two daughters, Katherine Lee Watson and Patricia Cross Watson, all of Franklin; her parents, Charles V. and Mrs. Pattie Green Cross of Gates, N.C.; and a brother, Charles V.
