All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ELIZABETH EUGENIA ROWE WHITEHEAD Mrs. Bettie Rowe Whitehead, 76, of Courtland, died Friday night, February 22, in Raiford Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Whitehead was the widow of Jordan Walter Whitehead of Courtland and the daughter of the late James Elliott and Mary Eugenia Williams Rowe of Southampton county. She was a member of the Sebrell Methodist Church and of its Woman’s Society of Christian Service. Surviving her are four daughters, Mrs. W.N. Whitehead and Mrs. C.S. Whitehead Applewhite, both of Sebrell, Mrs. R.W. Cole of Courtland and Miss Elizabeth Whitehead of Norfolk; five sons, Ryland A. Whitehead, H. Bradford Whitehead, H. Elton Whitehead, Homer R. Whitehead, and Geno B. Whitehead, all of Courtland; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother, Charles H. Rowe, and a sister, Mrs. R.N. Wells, both of Courtland, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and sons Funeral Home by Rev. C.A. McCormick, Jr., pastor of the Courtland Methodist Church, and Rev. David Willis, pastor of Vincent Grove Methodist Church. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Active pallbearers were Edwin Priggen, Charles Rowe, J.T. Rowe, Jr., Leslie Whitehead, H.B. Rowe and Leroy Bryant. Elizabeth Eugenia "Bettie" (ROWE; Mrs. Jordan W.)
