APPLEWHITE WHITEHEAD FUNERAL CONDUCTED FOR MRS. WHITEHEAD Mrs. Fannie A. Whitehead of Courtland, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital, Thursday, Aug. 5th. Although she had been in failing health for a number of years, her passing was unexpected, death resulting from a cerebral hemorrhage, suffered earlier in the day. She was born June 27, 1879, a daughter of the late Albert Moore and Laura Saunders Applewhite. With the exception of a few years her entire life was spent in this county, in the Courtland community. Mrs. Whitehead was a member of the Courtland Methodist Church and a shut-in member of its Ladies Bible Class. Besides her husband she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Bess Hassett* of Franklin, Mrs. Blanche Williams, Mrs. Frances Jinnette and Mrs. Katherine Duggins of Richmond, two granddaughters, Mrs. Jacqueline Vinovick of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Joyce Ross of Richmond, four grandsons, Leslie, Don and David Jinnette and Manfred Duggins, one great grandchild, Deborah Ross, all of Richmond, two sisters, Mrs. Lucy A. Vaughan and Mrs. C.W. Dickens, one brother, B.H. Applewhite, all of Courtland and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Saturday Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. at the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Chapel, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Her pastor, the Rev. C.T. McCormick, Jr., officiated assisted by the Rev. J.T. Cassell of the Capron Methodist Church. A hymn "Beyond the Sunset" was rendered by Mrs. Roland Vaughan of Courtland. Pallbearers were her nephews, Thomas, Emmette and Roland Vaughan, Emmette, Eugene, Lloyd A. and Claude Applewhite and Frank Marks.
