All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ GUSSIE LAWLESS WHITEHEAD Miss Gussie Lawless Whitehead, daughter of Ira G. and Pearl Davis Whitehead, a native of Southampton County, died at 3:45 o’clock yesterday afternoon in a local hospital after a long illness. Miss Whitehead was a graduate of Parrish Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Alumnae Association of the hospital. She was also a member of Sebrell Methodist Church of Southampton County. She formerly lived in Courtland, Va., but had resided here for the past 15 years. Besides her parents, Miss Whitehead is survived by two brothers: W.M. Whitehead, of Norfolk, and L.D. Whitehead, of Courtland; three sisters, Mrs. T.B. Smith of Tuckahoe, N.Y.; Mrs. R.T. Barnes, of Courtland, and Miss Ira Pearl Whitehead, of Courtland. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the W.J.M. Holland Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial will be in Courtland Cemetery.
