Mr. Whitehead, a native of Southampton County, was a member of Sebrell United Methodist Church and Franklin Moose Lodge. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include four sisters, Evelyn W. Whitehead, Hildred W. Cole, Doris W. Applewhite and Elizabeth Whitehead, all of Courtland; and three brothers, Bradford Whitehead, Elton Whitehead and Homer Whitehead, all of Courtland; and nieces and nephews. The graveside service was conducted Sunday in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, by the Rev. Weldon White. Memorial donations may be made to the Sebrell United Methodist Church or to the Courtland Rescue Squad. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, handled the arrangements.
