All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ IRA GOODE WHITEHEAD Ira Goode Whitehead aged 79 years, well known life resident and farmer of Courtland community died Saturday night at his home after an illness of a few weeks. Mr. Whitehead was the husband of Mrs. Pearl Davis Whitehead of Courtland and the son of the late Nicholas and Mary Eliza Davis Whitehead of Southampton County. He was a member of the Old Trinity Methodist Church near Courtland. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons. William N. Whitehead of Sebrell and Leslie D. Whitehead of Courtland , three daughters, Mrs. Theodore B. Smith of Tuckahoe, New Your, Mrs. Alfred Green of Norfolk, and Mrs. Robert Barnes of Courtland, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Rena Lamb of Courtland, a number of nieces and nephews. Remains were taken to the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland and Sons of Franklin where funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock by Rev. C.A. McCormick with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Pallbearers were: Charlie Scott, Edward Manry, Riddick Wills, Elton Whitehead, Clifton Whitehead and Claud Applewhite.
