Thomas Whitehead died at his home near Courtland March 22, in his 36th year, after a brief illness from pneumonia following influenza. He was an upright, conscientious and honorable citizen in his community and a kind and loving husband and father. He leaves to mourn their loss his widow, who was Miss Virginia Vaughan; three children, Leslie, Eleanor and Lucy Whitehead; a father, Mr. J.W. Whitehead; three brothers, R.E., G.C. and F.W. Whitehead; two sisters, Mrs. S.A. Whitehead and Mrs. J.H. Hill all of the Courtland community, besides other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.H. Riddick at his late home Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the family burying ground. Jordan Thomas WHITEHEAD, Southampton Co. native, d. 22 Mar 1920, at home, near Courtland, age 35, interred in the WHITEHEAD family cemetery*, 23 Mar 1920, donated obit, newspaper unknown *located on a knoll behind the Southampton H.S. baseball field.
