Mr. Whitehead was a faithful steward and member of Sebrell Methodist Church, having moved his membership here from Courtland several years ago, and attended services regularly as long as his health permitted. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Rowe Whitehead; six sons, Ryland A. Whitehead of Brooklyn, N.Y., Bradford, Elton, Homer, Geno and Walter, Jr.; four daughters Mrs. W.N. Whitehead of Norfolk, Misses Hildred, Doris and Elizabeth Whitehead; one granddaughter, Janet Ann Whitehead of Norfolk; a brother, S.A. Whitehead of Courtland; two sisters, Miss Deborah Whitehead and Mrs. Geo. Whitehead of Courtland; ten nieces and nephews and five great-nieces and nephews. The funeral services were conducted at the home at 4 o'clock Tuesday by the Pastor, Rev. H.F. Turner and Rev. Gordon L. Price of the Courtland Baptist Church with burial in the family plot near-by. "God Will Take Care of You" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sung during the services. The body bearers were: Riddick Wells, Charlie Rowe, G.L. Bryant, Tom Rowe, G.C. Kirkland, J.N. Rowe, Z.H.
