She was a native and lifelong resident of Southampton Co., the wife of William Leland Whitehead, and a member of Courtland United Methodist Church. She was a member of Nottoway River Women’s Club. Surviving besides her husband is one daughter, Mrs. Marinette W. Spain of Suffolk, Va.; one son, William L. Whitehead, Jr. of Courtland; two sisters, Mrs. Jennille B. Hancock of Ivor and Mrs. Dorothy B. Vick of Courtland; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 P.M. at the graveside Riverside Cemetery, Courtland by the Rev. W.W. Clarke and the Rev. Edmund Ellis.
