MARVIN L. WHITEHEAD

   SUFFOLK - A funeral service for Marvin L. Whitehead, 71, was held Friday 
at 11 a.m. in Southampton Memorial Park by the Rev. Wayne Harrison.  Wright 
Funeral Home was in charge.

   Whitehead died Tuesday.

   Pallbearers were: H.C. Davies, G.K. Williams, William L. Whitehead, Robert 
Crumpler, William H. Cutchin, Jake Jacocks, Jimmy Spain and Wayne Whitehead.

   A lifelong resident of Nansemond County (Suffolk) he was the husband of 
Nancy Gray Whitehead, and son of the late Nancy Cutchin and W.T. Whitehead Jr.

   He was a retired, self-employed contractor and was a member of South Quay 
Baptist Church.

   Other survivors include two sons, Gerald Randolph Whitehead of Suffolk, 
and Marvin L. Whitehead, Jr. of Murfreesboro, N.C.; a daughter, Joyce 
Whitehead Viscomi of Manhassett, N.Y.; four brothers, Wayne Whitehead of 
Charlotte, N.C., Rudolph Whitehead of Turlock, Calif., William Whitehead of 
Hooper, Calif., and Stewart Whitehead of Franklin and four grandchildren.
