All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ROBERT EMMET WHITEHEAD COURTLAND - Robert Emmet Whitehead, 78, retired farmer, died Thursday at 3 a.m. in Raiford Memorial Hospital, Franklin, after a long illness. A lifelong resident of the Courtland community, he was a son of Jacob W. and Mrs. Ella Crumpler Whitehead of Southampton County. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Hill of Newport News and Mrs. Lizzie Whitehead of Norfolk. A funeral service was conducted in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, Franklin today at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Robert E. Bailey, pastor of Courtland Baptist Church, and the Rev. C. W. Gibson, Jr., pastor of Courtland Methodist Church. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Pallbearers were Delbert Whitehead, Alvin Whitehead, Vann Whitehead, Wilbur Whitehead, Wallace Whitehead, and L.V. Whitehead.
