Besides his wife, Mrs. Frances Kitchen Whitehead, he is survived by one daughter, Miss Dorothy Lee Whitehead of Washington, D.C.; three sons, Roland Edward Whitehead of Franklin; Clayton Francis Whitehead of Courtland and Claiborne Yates Whitehead of Fayetteville, N.C.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Earl Whitehead of Oakland, Calif., and H. Clifton Whitehead , of Norfolk; four sisters, Miss Dollie Whitehead, of Courtland; Mrs. Thelma W. Holland, of Holland; Mrs. Annie W. Coggsdale, of Richmond, and Mrs. Marie W. Field, of Leesville. Funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 P.M., Tuesday at the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, with interment in Courtland Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** ROLAND LEE WHITEHEAD Roland Lee Whitehead, 73, well-known resident of Courtland, died at his home early Monday morning, October 31, after an illness of many months. Mr. Whitehead, a native of Southampton county, was the husband of Mrs. Frances Kitchen Whitehead of Courtland, and the son of the late John T. and Elizabeth Screws Whitehead of Southampton County. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Miss Dorothy Lee Whitehead, of Washington, D.C.; three sons, Roland Edward Whitehead of Franklin, Clayton Francis Whitehead of Courtland and Caliborne Yates Whitehead of Fayetteville, N.C.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Early Whitehead of Oakland, Calif., and H. Clifton Whitehead of Norfolk; four sisters, Miss Dollie Whitehead of Courtland, Mrs. Thelma W. Holland of Holland, Mrs. Annie W. Coggsdale of Richmond and Mrs. Marie W. Fifield of Leesville, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons by Rev. L.M. Kanipe, pastor of the Courtland Baptist Church. Burial was in the Courtland Cemetery. Active pallbearers were W.E. Edwards, Stuart Jenkins, David Kitchen, Godwin Kitchen, L.A. Clements, W.B. Ellis, Joe K. Magette and M.T. Futrell.
