All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM THOMAS WHITEHEAD William Thomas Whitehead, age 89, well known resident of the Courtland community died at his home near Courtland Friday morning, November 3, after an illness of many weeks. Mr. Whitehead was the son of the late William and Nancy Gardner Whitehead of Southampton County. He was a member of the Courtland Methodist Church, where he served faithful for many years. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. G.K. Williams, Suffolk, Mrs. S.W. Gardner, Franklin, Mrs. Otelia W. Story, Courtland, and Mrs. Lawton W. Kitchen, Sedley; four sons, W.T. Whitehead, Franklin, G.E. Whitehead, W.L. Whitehead and Roy R. Whitehead, all of Courtland. Funeral services were held from the home near Courtland, Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Percy White. Interment was made in the family cemetery near Courtland. William Thomas WHITEHEAD {Jr.}, d. 3 Nov 1944, at home, near Courtland, age 89, interred in the WHITEHEAD family cemetery*, 23 Feb 1944, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), Feb. 25, 1944 *located off Hwy. 35, behind the house where Wm's daughter Otelia Whitehead Story lived, and where her grandson Michael Williams lived in 1998.
