She was a native of Southampton County and taught first grade in a Windsor, N.C., school. She was a member of Windsor Methodist Church and its choir director and a member of order of Eastern Star. She was a daughter of Thomas C. and Mrs. Florence Newsom Whitley She is survived by a sister, Mrs. John H. Rogaleskie of Tampa, Fla., and her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Newsom of Drewryville. A funeral service was conducted in McDowell-Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Howard Hale of Windsor Methodist Church and the Rev. Joseph S. Peebles of Drewryville Methodist Church. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery.
