WILLIAM HENRY WHITLEY

   Henry Whitley, 87, a former resident of Southampton County, died at the home 
near Como, N.C., of his daughter, Mrs. Laura Mae Pope, on Friday, February 11.

   He was the son of the late Everett and Mary Eliza Whitley.

   Survivors are seven children; several grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. 
Ethel Holland of Norfolk.

   Funeral services for Mr. Whitley were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at 
New Hope Methodist Church. Burial was at the Black Jack, the old family burying 
ground near New Hope Church.
