Barrett of the Statesville community last Saturday February 13. Miss Ina was the daughter of the late Richardson and Angeline Brett Whitley. Born October 31, 1858, in Isle of Wight County, but spent most of her life in Southampton County, where she made many lifelong friends. The last 20 years of her life were spent in the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Barrett as a member of the family. She was a member of Barnes M.E. Church and Barnes Missionary Society. She was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of sickness, ever glad to go to those who needed her. Those surviving are a sister, Mrs. Fannie Wall of Suffolk, and a sister-in- law, Mrs. Mollie Whitley of Como, N.C., and several nieces and nephews. The services were conducted by her Pastor, Rev. C.F. Moseley. "Old Rugged Cross" and "No Night There" were sung by Mrs. J.T. Bryant and Mrs. John Bryant, T.H. Barrett and R.B. Bryant, and a duet "Home of the Soul" was sung at the grave by Mrs. J.T. Bryant and Mrs. John Bryant. Pallbearers were her nephews: Collin Gilbert, Herbert and Linwood Whitley, P.D. Howell and Louis Britt. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the deceased.
