All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JAMES EVERETT WHITLEY Franklin, Dec. 15, James Edward Whitley, 77, husband of Mrs. Annie Laura Whitley and son of the late Everett and Eliz Barnes Whitley, of Hertford County, died at his home near Como community, Wednesday night after a brief illness. Mr. Whitley was a successful farmer of Hertford County and a consistent member of New Hope Church. Besides his wife he is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. W.M. Worrell, of Como; Mrs. J.T. Drake, of Newsoms; Mrs. Leo Britt, of Carrsville; Mrs. E.E. Carter, of Norfolk; Mrs. W.C. Butler, of Windsor, Mrs. Marvin Porter and Mrs. Ruby Story, of Franklin; six sons, Joe and Carson Whitley, of Franklin, Robert Whitley, of Handsoms; George and Jim Whiltey, of Como; one brother, Henry Whitley, of Como; three sisters, Mrs. W.T. Holland, of Norfolk; Mrs. Tidy Edwards, of Franklin, and Mrs. Lizzie Bailey, of Roanoke Rapids; a number of grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at New Hope Methodist Church at 3 o’clock by the Rev. C.F. Mosley and the Rev. R.D. Stephenson. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, Va. ****************************************************************************** James Everett Whitley, aged 77, died at his home near Como Wednesday night.
