Holland and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Fridley officiating. Burial was in Poplar Spring cemetery. Pallbearers were James Bracey, Nurney Whitley, Willie Whitley, Harrell Whitley, James Jones and Matthew Turner. Mr. Whitley died Monday on the way to Southampton Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack. The son of Thomas C. and Mrs. Floy Piland Whitley, he was a native of Southampton County and a member of the High Street Methodist Church. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Mary Hatfield of Franklin, and three brothers, Otis J. Whitley and Julian P. Whitley of Franklin and Roger Whitley of Portsmouth.
