Witmer and daughter of the late Samuel W. and Mrs. Martha Caroline Williams Davis, died at noon on Tuesday, December 14, at the residence, 626 W. Princess Anne Road, Norfolk. Mrs. Witmer was a native of Southampton County, and had made her home in Norfolk for the past twenty years. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Jesse F. McClenny of Franklin and Mrs. W.P. Johnson and Miss Gypsy Davis of Ivor; a niece, Miss Anne McClenny of Fredericksburg; and two nephews, Davis McClenny of Indianapolis, Ind., and Watkins Johnson of Ivor. Funeral services for Mrs. Witmer were conducted at two o’clock, Thursday afternoon, from the home of her sister, Mrs. Jesse F. McClenny, by Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Cradock. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the active pallbearers being Hunter Darden, Vernard Cotton, J. Richard Lawrence, Walter Beale, Emmett Davis of Sedley, J.T. Vaughan, Floyd T. Joyner of Ivor, and Mr. McKetha of Norfolk. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. Maude Witmer Buried Thursday *** Funeral services for Mrs. Maude Constant Davis Witmer, 55*, who died Tuesday at her home in Norfolk, were held Thursday ot 2:30 P. M. at the home of her sister, Mrs. Jesse McClenny, with the Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Cradock officiating. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Mrs. Witmer was a native of Southampton County but had made her home in Norfolk for 20 years. She was the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Mrs. Martha Caroline Williams Davis. She is survived by her husband David E. Witmer; three sisters, Mrs. McClenny; and Mrs. W.P. Johnson of Ivor; a niece, Miss Anne McClenny of Indianapolis and a nephew, Watkins Johnson of Ivor.
