Mrs. Whitmore was a native of Jarratt* and was employed with the Tri-County News, Wakefield. She was employed with Levy and Co. for many years and was the Jarratt correspondent for several area newspapers. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Survivors include a sister, Irma Reese Parker Shufelt of Richmond; and two stepsisters, Mrs. Willie Tom Bell Rawlings of Waverly and Vera Bell Simmons of Emporia. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Simmons-Reese Family Cemetery, Sebrell, by the Rev. Larry E. Davies. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, is in charge.
