GRIZZARD WHITEHORN The sudden death of Mrs. Fannie R. Whitehorn of Sunday, March 19, came as a severe shock to her children, relatives and friends. Her feeble health which she bore patiently, had seemed much improved for the last six months, and death came without a moment’s illness. She was born in Sussex County August 11, 1862, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Grizzard, and was the widow of the late A.C. Whitehorn of Southampton County, who was a devoted Christian, a highly honored and respected citizen. There were three children born to this union, Joseph Epps, Annie Virginia, and Mamie Elizabeth. Mrs. Whitehorn was always kind, loving and tender, a devoted wife and mother, ever thoughtful and considerate. She was a devoted Christian, bearing all trials with Christian fortitude. She was a member of Lebanon Methodist Church maintaining her religious relations throughout life. She is survived by her two daughters, Misses Annie and Mamie Whitehorn; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Smith and Mrs. P.L. Smith, all of North Emporia, Va.; two nieces and six nephews. She was buried at her home near North Emporia Monday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock with services at the house and the grave by the Rev. Henry Chenault of Lebanon Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. A.W. Coates of the Adams Grove Baptist Church. [Fannie R. (GRIZZARD; Mrs. A.C.)
