A native of Schoolfield*, she was the wife of James Atwood Walthall and a daughter of Mrs. W.S. Meadows and the late Walker Carper Turner. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and lived in the Franklin community 20 years. Besides her husband and mother, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Barbara W. Brown of Greenwood, S.C., and Miss Cynthia Faye Walthall of the home; six sisters, Mrs. J.F. Linkenhoker of Pocomoke City, Md., Mrs. Tulane Duncan of Franklin, Mrs. S.S. Bowles of Farmville, Mrs. Bruce W. Keller of Arlington, Mrs. Connie M. Savage of Richmond, and Mrs. Hedy Downes of Meherrin; seven brothers, Walter A. Turner of Painter, Wheeler F. Meadows Jr., Floyd C. Meadows, Donald E. Meadows, and J. Thomas Meadows of Salisbury, Md. Fred M. Meadows of Farmville, and William M. Meadows of Meherrin; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. Pallbearers were George Hedgepeth, Jack Story, Roy Howard, D.C. Blythe, James Surace and Ray Mobley. Mary (TURNER; Mrs. James A.)
