He was a native of Southampton County and a member of Applewhite Methodist Church. He was the husband of Mrs. Fannie May Joyner Williams and son of James Robert and Mrs. Mittie Story Williams. Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Daphne W. Vaughan of Windsor, Mrs. Erma W. Joyner of Capron, and Mrs. Leona W. Davis of Luray; four sons, A. Clifton Williams and Dr. D.C. Williams of Capron and Gene Williams and Sidney T. Williams of Courtland; three sisters, Mrs. Betty W. Willis of Norfolk, Mrs. Grace Majette of Courtland, and Mrs. Virginia Joyner of Jarratt; a brother, J. Corbitt Williams, Sr. of Capron, and 19 grandchildren. A funeral service was held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles B. Spivey. Burial was in Capron Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dr. D.C. Williams, Sidney Williams, Gene Williams, Clifton Williams, J.C. Williams Jr., Shelton Vaughan, Lewis Holmes Davis and Charlie Joyner.
