WILLIAMS DIES AT HIS HOME IN CAPRON Dr. F.E. Williams passed away Friday, January 24th 1919, at the age of 57 years. He was a native of Southampton County, being the son of the late Frank E. and Parthenia Williams. Here he practiced for 23 years and where ever human suffering existed. Dr. Williams name is known and his influence felt. Truly these years might well be summed up in these few words. "Lord let me live from day to day/In such a self forgetful way/ That even when I kneel to pray/ My Prayer shall be for others." But his health failed and 15 years ago he moved to Albemarle County with the hope that a change might improve him. There he engaged in farming and dairying. Recently, however, he disposed of his farm and returned to his native county where he was welcomed by all who knew him. Three doctors did all they could for him, but on January 23rd he began to sink and passed away on the 24th, at 3:30 p.m. Many who have gone up from every part of the county have already gathered about him to bless him for what he did for them. We who remain, shall claim him in memory till we touch his hands again and enjoy his companionship forever. Dr. Williams was a worth and valiant soldier of the Cross, holding his membership at First Church, Charlottesville. He was a devoted husband and a faithful son. He was a striking type of the southern gentleman, and his death comes as a great loss to the scores of people who will remember him for his kindly neighborliness and ever ready willingness to oblige and do for others. Dr. Williams was eminently qualified for his chosen profession, in which success so abundantly crowned his efforts until the hand of affliction was laid upon him. He was an A.M. of Randolph-Macon College and a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, and later took a post graduate course at the New York College of Surgery. He was a nephew of the late J.W. Williams of this county, and Mrs. M.E. Story, of this place. On January 11, 1898, he married Miss Mattie Vincent of Salisbury, Md., who survives his, also his aged mother, who is 82 years old. The burial service held at his home was conducted by the Rev. N.B. Foushee assisted by Rev. W.H. Riddick. His remains were conveyed to the family burying ground and the beautiful floral designs showed the love and esteem in which he was held. "In the clear morning of that other country in Paradise,/ With the same face that we have loved and cherished/ He shall arise./ Let us be patient, we who mourn with weeping/ Some vanished face./ The Lord has taken but to add more beauty/ and a diviner grace./ Think of us, dearest one, while o’er life’s waters/ We seed the land,/ Missing thy voice, thy touch and the true helping/ Of thy pure hand./ Till through the storm and tempest safely anchored/ Just on the other side,/ We find thy dear face looking through death’s shadows,/ Not changed but glorified." The pallbearers were Messrs. Paul Ellis, W.P. Gillette, J.T. Barham, J.T. Gillette, L.J. Bain, T.W. Story, L.W. McGrath, E.L. Marks. Dr. "Frank" Francis E.
