All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ FLOYD WOOD WELLONS Floyd Wood Wellons, 65, a well-known merchant and resident of Franklin, died suddenly early Tuesday morning, May 16, at his home on Chestnut Street after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Wellons was the husband of Mrs. Pearl Spivey Wellons, who survives him and the son of the late Peter P. and Ada Anderson Wellons of this county. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and its Bruner Bible class. Mr. Wellons came to Franklin in 1913 and engaged in the grocery business until he entered the U.S. Navy in World War I. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. Alton Vick and Miss Virginia Dare Wellons, both of Franklin, and one son, Floyd W. Wellons, Jr., also of Franklin; four grandchildren; and one brother, R.L. Wellons of Franklin. Funeral services were held at 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Franklin Baptist Church, with Revs. Randolph Gregory and R.D. Stephenson officiating. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
