George H. Williams Dies at Age of 84 

  FRANKLIN - George Henry Williams, 84, resident of Nansemond County, near 
Suffolk, died at his home early today after an illness of many months. 

  He was a native of Bertie County, N.C., and the husband of Mrs. Carrie 
Lelia Rawls Williams, who preceded him in death six years ago. 

  The son of the late George and Lelia [sic*] Williams of North Carolina, 
he is survived by two children; one son, Thomas B. Williams of Suffolk and 
one daughter, Mrs. Sam Butler of Franklin; five grandchildren and a number 
of nieces and nephews. 

  He was a member of the Sedley Baptist Church in Sedley. 

  The remains have been taken to the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland and Son 
in Franklin pending funeral arrangements.

D.Cert. 26389 (Chuckatuck #280) gives his mother as Tilda CONNER. 

His parents, George L. & Catherine Matilda (CONNER) WILLIAMS, m. 17 Apr 1870 
   in Hertford Co., NC.
