All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARVIN WHARTON WILLIAMS FRANKLIN - Marvin Wharton Williams, Sr., 68, well-known resident of Franklin and retired superintendent in Union Bag-Camp Paper Corporation, died early Monday morning in Raiford Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Nellie Colwell Williams and a son of the late William George and Mrs. Gertrude Taylor Williams of Franklin. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church. Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Billy Bryant Williams of Franklin and Marvin Wharton Williams, Jr., of Rocky Mount, N.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Narcissa Williams Gwaltney of Smithfield; seven grandchildren; one brother, Frank C. Williams of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and two sisters, Mrs. R.J. Tucker and Miss Gertrude Williams of Franklin. Graveside service were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Poplar Spring Cemetery by Rev. Ira D. Hudgins of the Franklin Baptist Church, and Rev. W.A. Grissom of Windsor Christian Church. Active pallbearers were J.B. Johnson, Roger Drake, John Watson, Richard Drewry, George Gehrken and N.T. Barron.
