Wellons, aged 26 years, 7 months, died October 12 and was buried in the family cemetery at the home of her father near Franklin. Mrs. Wellons is survived by her husband and four small children; by her father, Frank W. Rose; two brothers, F. Paul Rose and Willie E. Rose and one sister, Mrs. Levi T. Wellons. The death is made particularly sad because of the fact that the husband and three children are seriously ill and were unable to attend the funeral. In the death of Mrs. Wellons the community as well as the family feels a keen sense of loss. Her home life was marked by love and kindness, and these same Christian qualities endeared her to all who knew her. On the death of her mother two years ago she assumed the responsibility of her father’s home, and since that time had been the means of contributing no little comfort and cheer to him by maintaining the home circle with filial devotion. We mourn the loss of so bright a life cut off in the bloom of its usefulness. Mattie Estelle (ROSE; Mrs. William B. Jr.) WELLONS, Franklin native, d. 12 Oct 1918, age 26, interred in the ROSE family cemetery*, near Franklin, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), Oct. 18, 1918, p. 1 *Location not known (Jul 2013) to the Southampton County Historical Society {SCHS} Cemetery Project.
