Mr. Williams was confined to his home with malaria for about a week previous to this attack of typhoid but had so far recovered from this former indisposition as to have been at his accustomed place of business for several days, when he was taken violently ill with this attack which terminated fatally within less than a week’s time, notwithstanding the best possible medical attention of two doctors and a nurse. Mr. Williams was one of the most highly esteemed citizens of this town and his demise is a great loss to his many friends. His aged mother and faithful wife were in constant attendance with every loving tender ministry to the dread end. He was thirty-nine years old, born in North Carolina, near Severn, [and had] resided in Virginia for the past twenty-seven years, endeavoring himself to everyone as a true, noble Christian gentleman. His widow was Miss Ruth M. Barnes of this county to whom he was happily married some five summers ago. His mother and three brothers, Aubrey M., L.P. and B.N. Williams, two sisters, Mrs. Robert Ferguson, all the above residing in this county, and Mrs. Jas. Griffin of Petersburg, survive him.
