Ira D. Hudgins assisted by the Rev. David Crook. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery with W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Wayne Pixley, Samuel Mitchell, Harry Jones, G.C. Duck, Carl Bowen, James Wagenbach, Richard Wagenbach and B.R. Carr. Wellons, 86, retired merchant, died Friday in a hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was s son of Peter P. and Mrs. Ada Anderson Wellons and the husband of Mrs. Dona Barlow Wellons. He was a member and former deacon of Franklin Baptist Church and a member of Bruner Bible Class. Besides his wife, he is survived by a foster daughter, Mrs. Mildred Stephenson of Suffolk, and two foster grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
