All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM BENJAMIN WELLONS William Wellons, age 92, well known farmer and resident of Sedley community, died Monday afternoon, May 15, at his home after an illness of a few weeks. He was the husband of the late Susan Frances Wellons and son of the late Matthew and Elizabeth Pope Wellons, all of Southampton County. He was born June 15, 1851, in Southampton and has made his home in the Sedley community his entire life. Surviving are four daughters, Miss Minnie N. Wellons and Miss Mattie Wellons of Sedley; Mrs. R.A. McCauley of Davis, W. Va., Mrs. Margaret Fitzgerald of Washington; four sons, J.D. Wellons of Roanoke, W.B, C.L. and P.T. Wellons of Sedley; 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the grave in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock with the Rev. James R. Stein officiating. The pallbearers were: J.D. Wellons, W.B. Wellons, C.L. Wellons, P.T. Wellons, Harry Wellons, and La Verna Wellons.
