MARTHA JANE BLYTHE WOMBLE

   A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Martha Jane Womble of Rt. 2, Franklin, 
was held Friday at 3 p.m. by Dr. R.E. Brittle in Poplar Spring Cemetery.

   Mrs. Womble, 86, died Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. in Patrick Henry Hospital 
after a long illness.

   A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of Willie L. Womble and 
a daughter of William and Mrs. Margaret Ann Rose Blythe.

   She was a member of the United Church of Christ.

   She is survived by one niece, Mrs. Larry Overby of Franklin; three nephews, 
Stanley Blythe and Nathaniel Blythe of Franklin, and Garland Blythe of Norfolk.

   W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home was in charge.

Her husband's obit ("Tidewater News," June 14, 1935), with their marriage

Her father died 14 Jan 1914, in Franklin Dist., Southampton Co.  The burial 
   site given on his Death Certificate, #2169, is not fully legible; 
   "Sycamore Church" is struck.  The site is not definitely known (Jul 2016) 
   to the SCHS Cemetery Project. 

Martha's half-brother John is buried in a BLYTHE family cemetery on 
   Pond Branch Rd., and unmarked graves may be there.
