A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Emily Bradon Winstead. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, and had been associated with Weyerhauser Paper Co. for 10 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Besides his widow, survivors include a daughter, Miss Kemberly Winstead of the home; two sons, Kenneth Earl, and David Neal Winstead, both of the home; a step-daughter, Penny Brandon of the home, two stepsons, Billy Loe, and Tracy Brandon, both of the home; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Murphy, and Mrs. Daphine Bradshaw, both of Franklin, Mrs. Elizabeth Kearse of Beaverdam, and Mrs. Nellie Murphy of Mechanicsville; and a brother, Charles L. Winstead of Franklin. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Beaver Dam Baptist by the Rev. Edward C. Thornton, Jr. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. The body is at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
