A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Walter J. and Mrs. Lillian Vick Worrell and the husband of Mrs. Alice Everett Worrell. He was a World War I veteran and a member of Barnes Methodist Church, American Legion Post 73, Newsoms Ruritan Club, and Newsoms Hunt Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Betty W. Darden of Newsoms; two sisters, Mrs. Edwin W. Evans of Newsoms and Mrs. H.L. Gurkin of Richmond; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in Franklin by the Rev. B.W. Coe of Barnes Methodist Church and the Rev. C. Roy Everette of Winton. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery with military rites at the grave. Active pallbearers were E.W. Evans, Jr., George Evans, Everett Barrett, P.G. Everett, Joe Everett and Burt L. Gurkin.
