Worrell Sr., 60, of 29 Partridge Road, died in New Hanover Memorial Hospital early Friday morning after an brief illness. Born in Newsoms, Va., Dec. 6, 1917, he was the son of Mrs. Clara Bradshaw Worrell of News, Va., and the late Kenneth D. Worrell. Mr. Worrell was retired from the N.C. Highway Patrol and World Gift Shop. He was a veteran of WW II, and a member of Pine Valley Baptist Church. In Addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katherine McDaniel Worrell of the home; one son, Edward E. Worrell Jr., of Wilmington; one granddaughter, Kristine Worrell; one sister, Mrs. J.L. Dail of Newsoms, Va.; four brothers, C.T. and L. F. Worrell, both of Fayetteville, F.D. Worrell of Newsoms, Va., and B.B. Worrell of Franklin, Va. Funeral services will be conducted from the Chapel of the Ward Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Earle J. Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens. A Ward Service.
