All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HERMAN WHITEHEAD WORRELL COURTLAND FARMER DIES ON WAY TO HOSPITAL Franklin - Herman Whitehead Worrell, 61, well-known farmer of the Courtland community, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Tuesday afternoon, June 10, while en route to a local hospital. Mr. Worrell, a member of the Courtland Methodist Church, was the husband of Mrs. Mildred Lee Brett Worrell and son of the late James Thomas and Annie Whitehead Worrell of Southampton County. He survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. James E. Cogsdale of Newsom and Mrs. C.L. Crowder of Portsmouth; one grandchild; two sister, Misses Annie and Gladys Worrell, both of Courtland; and nieces and nephews. Funeral service were conducted from the chapel of W.J.M. Holland and Sons last Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Rev. C.W. Gibson, pastor of Courtland Methodist Church. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, the pallbearers being A.L. Ballard, William Davis, R.G. Edwards, Jr., Stuart Jenkins, H.G. Roach, Bradford Whitehead, James D. Woodard, Jr., and L.L. Worrell.
