WORRELL KILLED WHEN AUTOMOBILE MEETS TRUCK IN HEAD-ON COLLISION THURSDAY Tragedy stalked the highway again yesterday morning about 9:30 o’clock when the 1938 Chevrolet sedan operated by Junie Wray Worrell, prosperous farmer living between Boykins and Capron, undertook to pull out from behind a truck on route 158, a mile or more east of Capron. Coming up rapidly from the oppistie direction was a truck and trailer loaded with potatoes, which Mr. Worrell evidently did not see; for in the brief space of time required for him to turn to the left of the truck he sought to pass, the other truck piled into the Chevrolet head-on killing Mr. Worrell instantly. Persons hurrying to the scene of the accident, which was scene of the accident, which was investigated by Deputy Sheriff William A. Bell, found the Chevrolet almost completely demolished. Mr. Worrell’s body was badly mangled - both of his legs were broken, a hand was torn off, his skull was fractured and his face and body deeply lacerated. The driver of the truck, whose identity was not available before going to press, escaped the collision uninjured. The body of the crash victim was taken to the Purviance Funeral Home in Boykins. At a late hour yesterday evening funeral arrangements had not been completed, pending the arrival of a daughter from California. The funeral itself has been set for three o’clock Sunday afternoon in Boykins, and burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery. At the time of his death Mr. Worrell was 59 years of age. He was a son of the late Joseph K. and Alice Jones Worrell of Southampton county, a member of the Boykins Methodist Church and of the Courtland Masonic Lodge. He is survived by three sons, Ray Thomas Worrell of Murfreesboro, N.C. Rufus Frank Worrell of Boykins, and David Truman Worrell of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; three daughters, Mrs. W.J. Bryant of San Pedro, Calif., Mrs. W.S. Spitzer of Edenton, N.C., and Miss Mildred Worrell of Richmond; a sister, Mrs. Willie Blowe of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
