All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARY ANN POPE WORRELL Mrs. Mary Ann Worrell, age 86 years, better known to many of her friends as "Aunt Mollie," and one of the oldest residents of her town and community, died at her home Tuesday night after a lingering illness of several weeks. She was the widow of the late James H. Worrell, and the daughter of the late Haley and Sallie Bryant Pope of Southampton County. She was a faithful member of the Newsoms Methodist Church, where she served for many years, and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by two sons, John Q. and Peter S. Worrell; three daughters, Mrs. C.Q. Ferguson, Mrs. Stella Bryant, and Miss Virgie Worrell, all of Newsoms, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the home Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. R.H. Marks, assisted by Rev. J.W. Morrison. Burial was made in Newsoms cemetery.
