Worrell, 64, prominent merchant and farmer of Newsoms died suddenly at his home on Friday, January 24. Mr. Worrell was a member of Newsoms Methodist Church and was for a number of years a member of the board of stewards. He was the son of the late James Henry and Molly Pope Worrell of Newsoms. Surviving his are his wife, Mrs. Zulie Carter Worrell; a grandson, Sheldon Carter Worrell, Jr., a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Hargrave Worrell of Newsoms; a brother, John Q. Worrell, of Newsoms; three sisters, Mrs. C.Q. Ferguson of Newsoms, Mrs. Stella Bryant and Miss Virgie Worrell, of Norfolk. Mr. Worrell’s only child, Sheldon Carter Worrell, died January 1, of this year. Funeral services were conducted at the residence Sunday, January 26, at 3 o’clock by Rev. J.W. Morrison, pastor of Newsoms Methodist Church, in charge. He was assisted by Rev. R.H. Marks of Capron and Rev. C.F. Moseley of Richmond. Pallbearers were: S.R. Vick, J.W. Drake, G.P. Vick, J.T. Ivey, L.D. Story, H.A. Crowder, D.T. Drake and J.F. Porter. The many beautiful flowers attested to Mr. Worrell’s numerous friends in the county. Interment was in Newsoms Cemetery.
