All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ SHELTON CARTER WORRELL SHELTON WORRELL IS FOUND DEAD IN BED WEDNESDAY NIGHT The people of the county and especially in the Newsoms section where he lived, are grieved at the sudden death of Sheldon Carter Worrell Wednesday night, January 1. Mr. Worrell had been sick with a cold for a few days, but was not considered ill in any way. Retiring early Wednesday night, he was found dead in his sleep when his wife was retiring about 10 o’clock. Mr. Worrell was a native of Newsoms, the only child of Peter S. and Mrs. Zulie Carter Worrell. He was the husband of Mrs. Margaret Hargrave Worrell, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.V. Hargrave of Franklin, and there is one son, Sheldon Carter Worrell, Jr., besides many relatives and an unusually wide circle of friends. He was only 32 years of age, an overseas veteran of World War II, serving for four years in the Navy and retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of the Newsoms Methodist Church and of the Ruritan Club. Funeral services will be held this (Friday) afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the home of his parents in Newsoms conducted by Rev. J.W. Morrison of the Newsoms Methodist Church, with burial in the Newsoms Cemetery. The pallbearers will be: Richard N. Darden, Jr., Marshall Vick, L.A. Worrell, B.L. O’Berry, Jr., all of Newsoms; Phillip Frankford of Franklin, and Hugo Schiller of Philadelphia.
