All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WALTER JULIAN WORRELL Walter Julian Worrell, 79, retired farmer of the Statesville community died suddenly and very unexpectedly Thursday morning at his home after suffering declining health for the past five years. Mr. Worrell was the husband of Mrs. Lillian Vick Worrell and the son of the late Julian and Harriett Williams Worrell of Hertford County, N.C. He was a member of Barnes Methodist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edwin W. Evans of the Statesville community, and Mrs. H.L. Gurkin of Richmond, one son, Carlton Ashby Worrell of the Statesville community, five grandchildren, Pfc. Edwin W. Evans, Jr., of the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific, George W. Evans of the Merchant Marine, Bettie Everett Worrell of the Statesville community, Charles W. Gurkin and Ima Lee Gurkin of Richmond. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon January 18, at 2:30 by the Rev. John W. Morrison at home. Burial was made in the family cemetery. The active pallbearers were: C.R. Everett, H.A. Barrett, J.V. Simmons, Marshall Vick, Roswell Hart, V.D. Thorpe, R.E. Lee, R.F. Boyette.
