JANIE LEE BEALE YOUNG

   COURTLAND - Janie Lee Beale Young, 92, of Route 1, a former teacher, died 
Dec. 29, 1986, in a hospital.

   Mrs. Young, a Handsom native, was a graduate of Elon College.  She was a 
past member of High Street United Methodist Church and a member of the 
Delaware Home Demonstration Club and the Virginia Dairymen’s Association.  She 
was the widow of Robert L. Young, Sr.

   Survivors include a daughter, Janie L. Green of Virginia Beach; three sons, 
Walter L. Young Sr. of Franklin, Robert L. Young, Jr. of Suffolk and Franklin 
B. Young of Courtland; a sister, Dana B. Gulley of Goldsboro, N.C.; 13 
grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

   A funeral was conducted Wednesday in the Wright Funeral Home by the Revs. 
A.D. Goodson, Kenneth Williams and Robert Fridley.  Burial will be in the 
Poplar Spring Cemetery.
