All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Richard BLOW, will dated 19 Dec 1785, proved 9 Mar 1786 Richard Blow's will In the Name of God Amen I Richard Blow of S.t Lukes's Parish in the the county of Southamptonbeing in a low State of Health tho of Sound and perfect Sence and memory do hereby make Constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows Viz.t Imprimis I Give and bequeath unto my loving wife Ann Blow three Negroes to wit a Fellow called Scipis [sic; 'Scipio'] and two others by the name of Mareah and Hannah which Two were left herein [sic; 'her in'] Thomas Blunt's Will also one Bed and Furniture and the best horse I dispossessed of the choice to the rest with herself Item I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Blow one negro Boy Called Moses to him and his heirs forever ~ Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Benjamin Blow one negro boy Called James to him and his heirs forever ~ Item I Give and bequeath unto my Son James Blow one negro Boy called Phillip to him and his heirs forever Item I Give and bequeath unto my Son Peter Blow a Negro Boy called Davey to him and his heirs forever ~ Item I Give and bequeath unto my Son James Blow one negro Boy called Phillip to him and his heirs forever Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Blow one Negro Girl called Rachel to her and his heirs forever the use and profits of the plantation and lands whereon I now live untill the first day of first month which shall be in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred eighty six and after the experation of said term it is my will and desire that she enjoy one third of the profits aforesaid and no more I desire that all the residue of my estate both real and personal may be sold for the purpose of Paying all my Just debts should there be a Ballance remaining I request of my Executors hereafter named) to divide it equally between my five children Thomas, Benjamin, James, Peter and Ann Blow I do hereby Constitute and appoint my friends John Thomas Blow Sen.r William Thomas and Thomas Vaughan Ex'ors to this my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this nineteenth day of December in the year of our lord one thousand Seven hundred and eighty five ~ Signed Sealed & Published and declared in presence of Rich.d Blow (sl) Thomas Scott ~~~~~ William Vaughan James Millar ~~~ [page break] [p.] 180) At a court held for the County of Southampton the 9.th of March 1786 This will was presented in Court by Jn.o Tho.s Blow, William Thomas and Thomas Vaughan the Executors therein named proved by the Oaths of Thomas Scott, William Vaughan and James Millar witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded And on the motion of the said executors who made oath according to law certificate is granted them for obtaining a probat thereof in due form Giving Security - whereupon &c~ [Apparently Richard's wife Ann was the widow of Thomas BLUNT.
